The Entropy of Light: Kinetic Release and the Sharing of the Harvest
At Moon Cast Shadow, the Waning Gibbous is not overlooked, it is a vital phase for community and integration. The peak has passed, and the light is beginning to wear away. This is the phase of Distribution and Teaching.
The Science of Receding Energy
As the Moon begins its journey back toward the Sun, the illumination begins to decrease from the right side (in the Northern Hemisphere). The extreme pull of the Full Moon Spring Tide begins to dissipate.
This is the transition from Potential Energy (the peak) back into Kinetic Release. The pressure of the cycle is venting. In the natural world, this is when the flower begins to drop its petals so the seeds - now fully formed and containing the wisdom of the cycle - can be scattered by the wind.
The Psychology of the Teacher
Internally, the Waning Gibbous marks a shift from "Me" to "Us". During the waxing phases, we were focused on our own growth. Now, with the harvest in hand, the psyche seeks to share what it has learned.
This is often a time of high communication. You may find yourself wanting to explain your process to others, give back to your community, or integrate the lessons of the past two weeks into your long-term wisdom. It is the phase of the Grateful Distribution.
Honoring the Cycle’s Wisdom
During the Waning Gibbous, we focus on the "after-glow" of the work:
- Share the Bounty: How can your success or your lessons benefit someone else? This is the time for social interaction and outward communication.
- Express Gratitude: The energy is receding, leaving behind the "silt" of experience. Acknowledge the people and forces that helped you reach the Full Moon peak.
- Begin the Clean-up: As the light fades, start identifying what no longer serves the next cycle. You aren't "letting go" yet (that is for the Waning Crescent), but you are beginning to sort the wheat from the chaff.
The peak has passed, but the value remains. Spread the light you have gathered.
