The New Moon marks the point of absolute potential, mirroring the Nordic Ginnungagap (the fruitful void where the first spark of creation occurred). This is a phase for the intentional preparation of the internal landscape before the first sliver of visibility returns. The White Beeswax Candle (Mind Path) provides a frequency of the "clean slate" and high-clarity intellect, while the Blue Beeswax Candle (Spirit Path) anchors the subconscious in the deep, receptive waters of the intuitive self. This phase utilizes Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), a visionary botanical rich in thujone that historically aided the Völva (seers) in thinning the veil, alongside Star Anise (Illicium verum), which contains anethole to sharpen the senses and provide a star-shaped compass for navigating the darkness. To anchor this void, Labradorite (Mind Path) - a plagioclase feldspar - serves as a geological catalyst for transformation, its internal light diffraction - known as labradorescence - physically mirrors the sparking of new ideas within the darkness of the subconcious. This is paired with Shungite (Spirit Path), an ancient carbon-based mineral from Karelia containing fullerenes, which provides a dense geological shield to neutralize external "noise" and protect the seed of intent.
